Timothy Giles

Emeritus Faculty, Security Executive Council

During his more than 30 year career in Security, Tim has worked in all aspects of Physical Security, Information Protection, Investigation, Crisis Management, Emergency Planning and Response, Disaster Contingency Planning as well as managing major projects in most of these areas. Tim’s additional work experience includes the following:

> Director of Security at the Woodruff Arts Center in Atlanta for 2 years

> Managing Director, Security Services for Kroll Associates in Atlanta for 2.5 years

> Director of Security, North America at IBM where he was the Executive responsible for the firm’s security operations for all of the United States and Canada until he retired after 31 years of service. Mr. Giles has also worked in IBM’s Latin America operations as the Director of Security for two years and spent three years living and working in the Asia Pacific Region of IBM’s security operations as the Area Security Manager. While in Asia he was responsible for the security planning for IBM during the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, Korea. In previous careers at IBM, Mr. Giles worked in manufacturing and engineering positions in IBM’s semiconductor operations

> Tim is Board Certified in Security Management as a CPP (Certified Protection Professional) and as a PSP (Physical Security Professional) by ASIS International

> Tim is also a licensed Private Investigator

> Tim is the author of the book “How to Develop and Implement a Security Master Plan” published in 2008

> In 1997 Tim was selected as the Security Director of the Year by Access Control & Security Systems Integration Magazine
