Jeremy M. Baumann, CPP is a Security executive with more than 20 years combined experience in Corporate Security and Law Enforcement. He has spent a bulk of his career building and transforming corporate security programs into high performing teams that deliver business value.
His most recent experience is as Director, Enterprise Security for Discover Financial Services where he was responsible for building the Enterprise Security team to protect 25,000+ staff members globally, in addition to company locations, assets and business. This team, at its pinnacle, included 80 employees and 165 contract security officers.
Building the Enterprise Security team included transforming the Security Operations team by onboarding more than 60 new proprietary and management staff, revamping the contract security force nationwide implementing rigorous performance standards, development of geographically redundant global Security Intelligence and Operations Centers, development of an elite Security Systems & Technologies team, and a development of a Security Programs Center of Excellence, or CoE.
The Security Programs CoE included new programs in Background Investigations, Document Management, Education & Awareness, Event Security, Investigations Case Management, Training, and Travel Security. Many of these programs were reviewed and validated externally as best-in-class.
Mr. Baumann’s previous private sector experience includes eight years with Takeda Pharmaceuticals in global security roles in Business Resilience, International Security, Internal Investigations, Product Security, and Supply Chain Security, and also five years with Guardsmark, LLC, where he developed significant subject matter expertise in delivering high-quality contract security services.
Prior to joining the private sector in 2002, Jeremy spent five years as a law enforcement officer in McLean County, Illinois. Mr. Baumann holds the CPP designation - the globally recognized, highest-level board certification in Security Management – since 2006 and a Bachelor of Science, Cum Laude, in Criminal Justice from Illinois State University. He also holds certificates in Senior Executive Leadership from Northwestern University and in Negotiation and Leadership from Harvard Law School.
