What in Your Organization is Putting Your Continued Employment at Greatest Risk?

Return to Corporate Security Career
Created by the Security Executive Council

The Security Executive Council regularly conducts Security Barometer quick polls of its Tier 1 Leader and online communities to take a snapshot of security practitioners’ opinions on specific security issues. In 2010, security leaders responded to the question “What in your organization is putting your continued employment at greatest risk?”

Overall, the results demonstrate that the risks to continued employment that security and risk management executives face are as diverse as the organizations they represent. These risks are largely determined by the state of your organization's perception of the need for security and its unique culture, or what we call "organizational readiness."

The results encourage an honest assessment of management expectations and the security organization's ability to adapt and, if needed, advance change.

These findings are consistent with what the Security Executive Council has witnessed since its launch. Below are a sample of programs the Security Executive Council has offered that directly address the risks identified in this survey.
