Cargill's Global Security Department is currently searching for a Lead Security Intelligence Analyst to be located at their corporate offices in Wayzata, MN.

This Lead Analyst will ensure the Global Security Department is providing added value and risk based security intelligence products for Cargill’s global businesses and personnel. This will include focusing the unit’s direction on business development, liaison with business leaders, and advanced analysis of security intelligence in support of Cargill’s current and future business opportunities.

The security intelligence developed by the Lead Analyst and supporting analysts will be as a result of working with internal sources such as the Corporate Affairs, Travel Services, I/T Security, Plant Operations and external sources such as the U.S. State Department’s Overseas Security Advisory Committee (OSAC), federal, state and local law enforcement, private corporate intelligence providers, and open sources. Areas of expertise will include public intelligence, law enforcement sensitive intelligence and public background information concerning specific threats and risks to Cargill and the company’s senior leadership.

The incumbent will also be responsible for the continued development of the security intelligence program to include assessment of risks and threats to Cargill business units and employees and play a key role in the development of the Security Intelligence unit’s overall strategy and mission to ensure the Global Security Department is operating as a Center of Expertise. The Lead Analyst will oversee the threat assessment process to assign “threat levels” (low, medium, high, critical) for global business units utilizing variables such as political stability, terrorism (indigenous and trans-national), crime, natural disaster and other risks/threats as designated. The Lead Analyst will also be responsible for providing day-to-day direction to other analysts within the Security Intelligence unit in the area of acquiring, analyzing and reporting to Global Security management. The Lead Analyst will help coach, mentor and participate in the supervision of analysts within the group along with the Manager of Security Intelligence. 30% Responsible for the collection and gathering of intelligence from internal Cargill sources and external intelligence sources around the world using various intelligence solutions.

25% Responsible for analysis of the intelligence gathered and creates communications at the appropriate level for senior management, location management, employees and department members as appropriate and communicates the information on a timely basis.

20% Provides coaching, mentoring and day to day direction for the analyst(s) within the intelligence unit including direction for collection and gathering of intelligence, and writing a variety of intelligence reporting products.

15% Proactively works with business leaders on project management and developing intelligence data for entry into new markets and countries. 10% Assist with the strategic development of the security intelligence unit and Global Security’s overall goal to maintain a center of expertise and any other duties as assigned.


*Bachelor’s degree
*Minimum of two years work experience within the intelligence field (government or corporate) with a strong emphasis on information/threat analysis and reporting.
*Experience and proficiency using Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
*Familiarity with general intelligence databases provided by government and private security intelligence groups (e.g. OSAC, CRG, iJet, ISOS, etc.
*Familiar with various types of software for data collection, storage, analysis and presentations
*Proven ability to analyze and interpret complex data and make recommendations for future action.
* Understands how corporations function in the global economy.
*Familiarity with or has experience analyzing major political issues within various global regions.
*Familiarity with security issues, transportation systems and other operational risk concerns to international businesses.
*Experience with providing timely and relevant security information to traveling employees, executives and expatriates.
*Solid understanding of terrorist and extremist organizations.
*Ability to develop intelligence for other department units regarding investigations, facility security, crisis management, etc.

Preferred: *Foreign language skills *Master’s degree in international studies
*Subject matter expertise in key region (e.g. Africa, Latin America, Middle East or Asia/Pacific)
*Understanding of agribusiness *Prior experience working as a threat analyst
*Must be able to communicate effectively and constructively in both written and verbal communications.
*Must have the ability to multi-task and work under definitive timelines.
*Strong analytical, problem solving and conceptual skills.
*Medium to high proficiency in MS Excel.
