The Deputy Chief Rick Officer provides administrative oversight and support to the Office of the Chief Risk Officer's five core functions: Internal Controls, Improper Payments, Enterprise Risk Management, Grant Risk Assessment, and the National Service Criminal History Check policy program. The Deputy supervises the two Office of the Chief Risk Officer (OCRO) managing directors and serves as the office's budget manager and is an aid and advisor to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO), providing guidance on agency-wide program and policy development in areas that integrate risk management activities.

The Deputy Chief Risk Officer is a supervisory position that:

Serves as the direct supervisor to the OCRO managing directors - directing and assigning work and providing guidance, coaching, mentoring, and support as they supervise unit staff;

Ensures that all OCRO supervisors complete and implement performance, training, work and individual development plans timely and effectively;

Communicates regularly with the CRO on the status of OCRO operations;

Works with the CRO and other OCRO supervisors to create and maintain a positive and productive work culture that is in keeping with the Chief Operating Officer and OCRO mission and values statements;

Acts as the OCRO budget liaison to the Office of Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) on the OCRO budget, providing reports to the CFO and CRO on open and unfunded obligations and unexpended funds, and ensures that all budget requests and contracts are submitted and/or managed effectively;

Applicants must have one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to at least the lower range of the NY-04 pay band, which would be at or equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. This specialized experience is directly related to leading teams and managing staff who perform at least two of the following functions: internal controls, improper payments assessments and recovery, enterprise risk management; grants management or monitoring; auditing or assessments; National Service or other criminal history check compliance; compliance management or monitoring; or risk assessment.
