This position is responsible for the safety and security of MLB employees, facilities (temporary or permanent), special events, and critical information throughout Latin America. The person filling this role will be the Security & Facility Management Department’s primary point of contact for all security & facility management matters, including the security of MLB-sponsored games and special events in Latin America.


  • Manage all aspects of security for MLB’s Latin American events, including Spring Training and Regular Season games, and All-Star tours. Ensure that best-practices, proactive and preventive security measures, and contingency planning are integrated into the overall planning process for Latin American games and special events:
    • Assure security at stadiums, hotels, and hospitality and entertainment venues
    • Liaise with key outside stakeholders such as promoters, stadium operators, security contractors, and international law enforcement
    • Work closely with MLB’s International staff to ensure safe and enjoyable fan experience
    • Write detailed security plans for all events
    • Attend security advance meetings
    • Learn and implement MLB’s Best Stadium Operating Practices
  • Coordinate security for MLB’s Latin American facilities, including MLB’s Dominican Republic office
  • Assist MLB’s 30 Clubs to implement appropriate security procedures at their facilities in the Dominican Republic
  • Oversee the Latin American Resident Security Agent (“RSA”) Program
  • Hire and train RSAs to assist MLB with security in Latin America
  • Manage and evaluate RSAs

  • Minimum of 10 years of law enforcement experience
  • Former residency and/or security-related work experience in Latin America preferred
  • Fluency in Spanish (speaking, reading, and writing) is required
  • Fluency in the Spanish language must meet at least Level 4 of the U.S. State Department’s language proficiency code (pre-employment testing may be required)
  • Event security experience, with a preference for international events
  • Ability to liaise with U.S. law enforcement and embassy personnel abroad
  • Must have a strong working knowledge of law enforcement, intelligence agencies, and business, social, and cultural issues in Latin America that may have an impact on MLB’s mission and operations
  • This position is based in New York City but requires extensive international travel, sometimes on short notice and for extended periods
