The Director of Global Security, directs, implements and enforces safety, security and risk management policies and procedures to ensure the continuity, safety and security of Blumont program facilities, operations, personnel, equipment and information. The Director of Global Security ensures the effective safe operations of all Blumont Program activities through identifying, analyzing, evaluating and treating risk, by communications and consultations and a continuous cycle of monitoring and review.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Defines, plans and oversees implementation of comprehensive security risk management systems for the protection of Blumont staff, subcontractors, visitors, facilities, assets and information for individual activities and operations across multiple sectors within Blumont’s non-US locations; primarily in the Middle East region
  • Serves as the key liaison for all security stakeholder interaction to ensure the successful completion of program deliverables to the donor as needed
  • Supports liaison with in-country U.S. government, United Nations, other diplomatic personnel, and NGO representatives regarding information sharing and evacuation activities
  • Develops, plans, organizes and directs the activities of multiple program-based security staff and ensures their actions comply with legal and regulatory requirements, as well as Blumont policies
  • Routinely examines the Blumont global risk management framework and ensures formal assessments of all Blumont Program sites and activities are up to date and effective
  • Directs inspection of premises to detect safety / security hazards and to ensure the safety / security policies and SOPs are known to all staff and are being followed


Required Skills & Experience:

  • 7+ years of civilian security management experience in high threat environments and 10+ years’ working in or supervising security systems and teams
  • 3 years of experience in working and or living as a civilian in the Middle East
  • Prior experience working with ISOS travel tracking services
  • Prior experience working with 3rd party security services (such as Pilgrims Group)
  • Formal technical qualifications in the field of security, safety and / or risk management
  • Ability to assess, design and implement security and safety management systems from scratch
  • Demonstrated experience in writing security pans and procedures as well as leading country-level security assessments and risk assessments
  • Advanced First Aid or trauma training
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of ISO 31000-2009 and related risk management standards, processes and procedures
  • Proven experience in developing and managing regional level budgets
  • Demonstrated investigations experience with verifiable formal investigations training
  • Experience with donor drive acquisitions processes as they relate to purchasing subcontracted security services
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proven incident / emergency management experience at country level or above
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrable ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders in a civilian environment
  • Willingness and ability to pass rigorous background and reference checking.

  • Extensive experience in a similar role
  • Strong analytical capacity
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of both corporate and International security risk management strategies
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NGO culture and security strategies
  • Experience performing incident and compliance related investigations
  • Knowledge and experience with Humanitarian and Development Donor regulations and requirements in the areas of safety & security.
