The Director of Security is an agency-wide advanced security management position that is responsible for: (1) designing and implementing appropriate security processes and systems; (2) maintaining a safe and secure environment for residents and employees; (3) collaborating with local law enforcement agencies, neighborhood groups and integral stakeholders to enhance safety and security at FWHS communities; (4) developing and implementing comprehensive safety plans; and (5) manage the operations of the department personnel. Will handle highly confidential information; must possess a work ethic founded in honesty, dignity, integrity, self-respect and trust. Reports to the Senior Vice President of Development and Asset Management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Plan, examine, analyze, evaluate and supervise the FWHS’s security operations, inclusive of physical security assets and security personnel.
  2. Develop plans, procedures, policies and recommendations to improve existing security methods and assure that the goals of the FWHS security program are met.
  3. Develop crime preventative programs, to include but not limited to working with community organizations, Resident Councils, FWPD, developer partners and others to implement a Resident Education Program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Job Competencies:
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of the housing industry;
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining industry contacts;
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight timescales;
  • Proficient in use of standard office applications;
  • Experience working with Executive level staff and presiding Board members with diplomacy and professionalism;

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement from an accredited college or university, or related field; or graduate of a recognized police or law enforcement academy. Eight or more years’ progressive experience in the security field. Completion of professionally recognized certifications and or licensing in related area.
  • Employee must possess a valid Texas driver's license and be eligible for coverage under the FWHS’s fleet auto insurance.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have above average abilities using computer Microsoft software such as MS Word, Outlook, and Excel and should be capable of using required by assigned tasks.
