Description:

The Associate Director, Global Security, will work closely with the Division Senior Director, Global Operations and Security and will be responsible for the development of safety and security systems for the organization’s field offices, staff, and consultants traveling to the organization’s offices worldwide. Please find below specific responsibilities:

  • Develop, standardize, and manage security policies, processes, and procedures in the field office and staff travel;
  • Manage security incident reporting process and provide situational analysis as needed;
  • Monitor security situations worldwide, with particular focus to areas where we currently operate or areas we are assessing for future work;
  • Monitor requirements for Occupational Safety Hazards in countries we operate and provide input to the project team as needed;
  • Monitor and analyze operational environments and provide security assessments to relevant offices;
  • Develop and manage country emergency and evacuation plans and suggest amendments and modifications as appropriate;
  • Provide training and implementation assistance to country offices;
  • Manage the security briefing process to HQ Short-term Technical Assistance (STTA), Expatriate Long-term Technical Assistance (LTTA), for both USN and TCN and the security briefing database;
  • Conduct risk and threat assessments faced by staff in all aspects of the programming operations and monitoring of the situation;
  • Offer technical support to field offices to ensure that best practice security measures and procedures are being implemented;
  • Facilitate and manage the Crisis Management Team;
  • Participate in the solicitation of security companies for projects and business development;

Qualifications:

  • At least 8 years of progressive, relevant experience in the field of international development security preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field
  • Ability to work as a team and independently
  • Ability to be flexible and work well under pressure
  • Willing to travel to developing and high risk countries
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English Proficiency in Spanish and French is a plus
