This position serves as the Federal Security Director for Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport located in Atlanta, Georgia. The Federal Security Director (FSD), Security Operations is the highest-ranking Transportation Security Administration (TSA) authority responsible for leading a large, complex organization, which is charged with planning, executing, and operating security services at the airport(s). You will provide day-to-day operational leadership for the Federal security responsibilities at various locations within the airport(s). You will serve as a subject matter expert and advisor to Security Operations leadership and to other Federal Security Directors. You will coordinate TSA's airport actions, with other Federal agencies, in the deterrence and discovery of threats to intermodal transportation. You will deploy airport resources to conduct deterrence activities in order to efficiently and effectively enhance security and to detect and/or deter terrorist activity or other suspicious conditions for all modes of transportation to include rail, mass transit, and aviation.

As a Federal Security Director for the Transportation Security Administration, your duties will include:

  • Organizing and implementing the Federal Security Crisis Management Response Plan, including coordination with airport and airline management, other Federal, state and local government and law enforcement organizations, and appropriate private sector entities.
  • Assuming direct responsibility and oversight for passenger, baggage, and air cargo security screening.
  • Overseeing the implementation, operation and maintenance of security technology within established guidelines.

As a basic requirement, applicants must demonstrate progressively responsible leadership experience that is indicative of senior executive level managerial capability and directly related to the skills and abilities outlined under the Professional/Technical Qualifications and Executive Core Qualifications listed below. Typically, experience of this nature will have been gained at or above the equivalent of the GS-15 grade level in the Federal service or its equivalent with state and local government, the private sector, or non-governmental organizations.
