The Senior Director, US Region, Corporate Security, is responsible for leadership and management of CIBC’s Security functions as it relates to the safety and protection of people, assets, information and corporate reputation. The incumbent provides strategic advice in the development of policies for the protection of people, information and property assets across the CIBC group on a regional basis, with a mandated focus on the US Region. In this capacity, the Senior Director provides assurance to the CEO and the Board of Directors that effective security is in place for the US Region. In addition, the position provides strategic and operational direction to mitigate serious threats and ensure organizational resilience in the areas of crime and robbery prevention, crisis and business continuity management, financial crime & fraud investigations, information/privacy breaches, insider risk, and physical security operations management. The Senior Director will also maintain ongoing relationships with relevant security service suppliers, local and national law enforcement, government, and institutional and professional associations in the United States.


Extensive knowledge of criminal, business and labor law and an advanced knowledge of general and forensic investigative processes In-depth knowledge of practices, procedures and principles and latest methodologies for protection of information, people and property assets in the financial services industry together with a solid understanding of internal control processes with an emphasis on safeguarding of assets Systemic, analytical, and conceptual thinker with creative problem solving skills sufficient to develop unique approaches and solutions necessary to resolve complex problems Judgment in handling complex and highly confidential matters Advanced people management/ leadership skills sufficient to lead/motivate a team of security professionals in achieving the Corporate Security and Investigations mandate Strong leadership in the completion of complex analysis and ability to formulate recommendations based on the analysis Well-developed influential skills sufficient to significantly promote and or negotiate on CIBC's behalf in situations that involve recognizing and responding to underlying concerns where others need to be persuaded to accept compromise solutions Well-developed writing skills sufficient to prepare interpretative, analytical and creative materials involving precise articulation of ideas and opinions Excellent communication skills in order to make presentations and submissions to senior CIBC management committees and Board committees
