SEC Renames GSOC Best Practices Group
February 11, 2020 – The Security Executive Council is renaming its Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) Best Practices Group to better convey the high level of energy and innovation in the group and in the operations center and fusion center fields overall.
The new name, the Next Generation GSOC Group, highlights the way in which this group's collaboration and research continue to drive people, process, and technology innovation toward the future. "We recognize that evolving global threats, all-hazard preparedness standards, and brand reputation considerations will continue to drive health, safety and security risk mitigation expectations," says Francis D'Addario, SEC Emeritus Faculty, Strategic Innovation. "The likely frequency and severity of future risk will require integrated and interoperable next-generation GSOC solutions."
In 2014, the Security Executive Council invited a select group of organizations to participate in a GSOC benchmarking study and follow-up group meetings. The group's success led the SEC to open it to a larger audience as the GSOC Best Practices Group.
Group participants are planning consolidation, expansion or enhancements to their GSOCs. Benefits of participation include quarterly meetings, exclusive entry into the Next Generation GSOC LinkedIn Group, the GSOC Benchmark Report (with completion of survey), information sharing, and SEC discounts.
"Those of us who have witnessed generations of siloed solutions falling short are heartened by the diversely talented analysts and technicians who follow," adds D'Addario. "Next generation global risk mitigation leadership and team development will be our enduring legacy gift."
