Active Shooter? Chemical Spill? Product Tampering? Severe Weather? Do you have incident response plans to cover these risks and others that may impact your business? Close coordination among all first responders will ensure, to the highest degree possible, that all available resources are effectively deployed. The swift response and recovery from these and other incidents will allow your company to effectively positively impact the protection of your people, assets, and bottom line.

We are excited to announce that we have once again partnered with Michigan State University (MSU) in order to provide table top exercises. A tabletop exercise is a cost effective method of providing crisis management teams with the opportunity to build teamwork, improve coordination, and validate the emergency response plan.

Our table top exercises are designed to provide Crisis Management Team members and alternates with realistic scenarios involving a specific type of critical incident. During an actual critical incident, new information almost always surfaces over a period of time. Therefore, we have structured these tabletop exercises in a segmented format. For example, the response phase is presented in two segments during which the participants develop priorities and solve problems, using team dynamics, as the scenario unfolds. The recovery phase will fast forward 48 to 72 hours and lead to a discussion of returning to normal business operations. Thought starters are provided, and each segment contains time for individual assessment, group discussion, and simulated interaction with public sector emergency responders. For more information on tabletops, read our paper: Getting the Most Value From Tabletop Exercises.

Ideally suited for security professionals with an understanding of a table top exercise, these solutions are presented in a narrative format. Participants are asked to respond to a sequence of problems related to the critical incident. Using the facts available to them, the participants discuss the situation, determine priorities, and solve problems as a team. The processes learned and practiced in the scenario lay the foundation for responding to an actual event.
