Duaine Styles
Duaine Styles was a Global Financial Services Chief Security Officer with more than 25 years of experience leading enterprise security, risk, and compliance programs across financial services, healthcare, and retail. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President of Risk, Compliance and Chief Security Officer at Globe Life, where he was responsible for protecting critical information assets, strengthening governance, and aligning security strategy with business objectives in a highly regulated environment.
During his tenure at Globe Life from 2019 to 2025, Duaine designed and implemented enterprise security architecture and governance programs that supported business growth while safeguarding brand, reputation, and future cash flows. He played a key role in introducing identity management, role-based access control, and risk management processes, particularly during mergers and acquisitions, and leveraged organizational change management strategies to accelerate adoption of secure and resilient business practices. Known for his ability to translate technical risk into clear business language, Duaine regularly communicated security strategy and progress to senior executives and boards.
Prior to Globe Life, Duaine spent more than a decade at GM Financial, where he served as Vice President of Security and IT Audit. In that role, he led cybersecurity, enterprise risk management, IT audit, and compliance initiatives supporting global financial operations. His work helped mature security capabilities while enabling the business to scale responsibly in a complex regulatory landscape.
Earlier in his career, Duaine built a strong technical and financial foundation through roles at All Saints Healthcare System as a Programmer Analyst and Accountant, and at Computer City as an Accountant. This combination of financial acumen, systems expertise, and security leadership has shaped his holistic approach to risk, governance, and resilience.
Duaine holds industry-recognized certifications, including Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) from ISACA and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from (ISC)². He earned a Master of Science in Information Systems and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington. He is also committed to ongoing professional development and is known for strengths that include strategic thinking, analytical rigor, learning agility, and the ability to lead with clarity and confidence.
Deeply engaged in advancing the profession, Duaine has served as a Board Member of the ISSA Fort Worth Chapter for six years and as a member of the Steering Committee for the Dallas Security Forum for seven years. He is an active contributor to security consortiums and professional networks, sharing insights and best practices with peers across industries.
A dedicated mentor, Duaine is widely regarded as a “teaching leader” who invests in developing future security professionals. He actively coaches and mentors teams, fostering growth, sharing success, and building high-performing security organizations that are both resilient and business-aligned.
